DESCRIPTION
TRAP WITH BAIT FOR INSECTS
As its name indicates the object of the present invention is a trap with insect bait, demonstrating its greater effectiveness with ants, although it can be used for the control of other types of insects. 5
The trap comprises a box, inside which the bait is deposited, which has a series of holes that communicate inside and outside and allow the entry and exit of insects.
These holes are arranged perimeter and, preferably, at an angle of 120 ° with respect to each other. 10
Inside there is a perimeter corridor and a cell area where the bait is housed.
BACKGROUND
Traps are known that comprise a box inside which the bait is housed and that have a series of holes where insects are attracted to the bait and, generally, after eating it, leave and return to their shelter in where sometimes they share bait venom with other congeners.
It is essential, in these types of traps, that the bait cannot be involuntarily accessed, for example in the case of a child, as well as that the bait does not flow out of the box.
It is also pursued that there is good aeration so that the smell of the bait diffuses well 20 and attracts a greater number of insects but, at the same time, that the box has a robustness that makes it resistant and safe against involuntary blows.
Another issue that must be taken into account is that the trap must be kept closed until the consumer decides to use it.
Different devices are known, the most widely used being those that have a base with several topographic characteristics used to direct the insects towards the bait, and a cover that covers such base to create a closed priming station.

Typical examples of traps of this style are disclosed in US4563836, Woodruff or US4837969, Demarest. 30

The base of each of the traps disclosed in the previous patents is formed by a unitary piece of a plastic material in the form of a relatively thin film or sheet and
deformable, which uses walls or passages formed in an integral way as part of the base to direct the insects to the bait while a cover closes the assembly by its upper part without obstructing the passageways of the insects.

In both patents the bait is in a central internal position and located in a bucket 5 that helps keep it in place before possible swings of the trap and, in addition, hinders its involuntary access for example by a child.

In US4563836, of Woodruff, the cover rests exclusively on the walls, presenting limitations when it comes to assuming loads on its upper part with a high risk of being crushed.

In the Demarest patent, the base includes several supporting features that protrude upwards, and the cover also provides the outer side walls of the trap, the cover being therefore a housing that fits down on the underlying support structures 15 of the base and interact with them.

The doors through which insects enter the Demarest traps are not formed as gaps in or between the walls that rise from a base, but are holes or openings formed in the portion of the cover that constitutes the housing of in such a way that a solidity is given to the assembly capable of supporting certain loads in its upper part without crushing although, in order to maintain the solidity, the places of entry and exit of the insects are limited exclusively to such holes whose size is limited to Do not affect the resistance of the set.
 25
For the proper functioning of the bait trap it is necessary that, during use, the bait remains in the central position.

Gentile US4793093 patent collects a solution to keep the bait in the central bucket. 30

This patent illustrates a trap constructed of thin plastic material, which has a base with a central well to house the bait, and a cover that includes a member in the form of a
bowl directed downwards, which protrudes inwards against the upper surface of the bait to help keep it in the central well.

However, the bowl-shaped member directed downwards does not provide resistance to crushing, as it rests directly against the bait in the well. 5

Instead, the crush resistance is provided by the side walls, which rest on the upper surface of a peripheral wall formed by the base.

Closer to the approach of the present invention, in terms of its configuration but not in terms of its use, we find the Spanish patent ES2184979T3 that proposes grooves in its base that is filled with the liquid bait that falls from a superior tank when it breaks this by deformation of the box. This system requires a liquid bait to flow properly and an easily deformable box, which forces it to be structurally weaker which makes it less safe. fifteen

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The object of the invention is a trap, especially effective for ants, but applicable to other insects, which meets the following objectives:
1. A safe trap, so that involuntary access to the bait is impossible. They contribute to this:
to. The outer geometry that prevents the introduction of fingers
b. The interior geometry, with the bait tub divided into cells, which prevents the bait from flowing outwards 25
C. The union of the support and the cover that is solid preventing its separation.
d. The structure of the trap that makes it resistant to shocks and pressures.
2. An effective trap that has:
to. High attraction capacity, which is achieved thanks to the arrangement of the openings that allow the passage of air current and the dispersion of the bait.
b. Easy access of insects to the interior, thanks to the size of the openings.
C. Easy access of the insects to the bait once inside, thanks to the perimeter aisle and the walkways formed by the cells.
d. Easy exit of insects after eating the bait, thanks to the openings.

 5
The invention object of the present document relates to an insect trap, preferably for ants, comprising a box with a bait inside, wherein said box comprises a support and a cover.
The support comprises an inner bathtub, perimeter walls and an outer flange.
The interior bathtub, designed to house the bait, is compartmentalized in cells and surrounded by a perimeter corridor.
The size of the cells and their configuration, both in height and width and depth, will vary depending on the rheology of the bait, that is, its ability to flow, and this so that it does not flow out of them by a change of trap position, even if such change is prolonged. fifteen
Thus, the division into cells prevents the bait, due to its rheological properties, can flow out of the trap and, at the same time, favors the access of insects to the bait, since the edges of the cells configure walkways facilitating the access of the bait insects, especially those insects that exhibit social behavior that leads them to act in groups.
Therefore the size and shape of the cells is related, through the appropriate algorithm 20, with the rheology of the bait.
The perimeter aisle also facilitates the access of insects to the different areas of the bait.
The perimeter walls rise by circling the bathtub and have a series of recesses, preferably three, and preferably equidistant from each other, as well as protrusions in their upper part. 25
The tab protrudes from the support by its base.
The roof, conical shaped, has a closed upper base and a perimeter skirt with its lower base open.
The skirt presents a series of emptyings, coinciding in number and distribution with those existing in the perimeter wall of the support. 30
The inner face of the cover has a geometry suitable to accommodate the support and join it by pressure.
On the outside of the skirt a tab protrudes
The cover and the support are coaxial and the union of one and the other by pressure allows some movement of rotation of one with respect to the other.
For transport and storage, the trap presents the cover in a position with respect to the support where the tabs and the emptyings are not coincident.
For use, the cover is arranged by matching the tabs and the recesses. 5
Once in use position, the rotational movement of the cover with respect to the support is blocked, for example by using some type of clipping.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
FIGURE 1 shows the support (1) where the inner bathtub (2), the perimeter walls (3) the closing flange (4) and the opening flange (17) are appreciated. 10
In the bathtub the cells (5) for the bait, the walkways (6) that are formed between them and the perimeter aisle (8) are observed.
In the perimeter walls (3) the emptyings of the support (13) and stops (14) that delimit the relative rotation movement between the cover and the support are appreciated.
Also the perimeter walls comprise, in its outer part, a relief (16) that circles it and that is suitable for the cover and the support to be joined by pressure being possible a rotational movement of one with respect to the other.
FIGURE 2 shows the cover (9) in which skirt (10) shows the emptying of the cover (11) and on the outer side of the perimeter edge a flange of the cover (12).
There is also a recess (15) of sufficient depth to trip over the 20 protuberances in the support.
FIGURE 3 shows the device in transport and storage position, the emptying of the lid (11) being clogged when not coinciding with the emptying of the support, and the cover flange (12) being, on the closing tab ( 4).
FIGURE 4 shows the device in use position, communicating the interior and the exterior when the emptyings of the cover (11) coincide with the emptyings of the support (reference 13 in FIGURE 1) with the cover tab (12 ) on the opening tab (17)
DESCRIPTION OF A MODE OF CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
A way of carrying out the invention is described below which is not unique or limiting, but merely expository. 30
The proposed bait trap comprises two clearly differentiated elements; the support and cover.
The support (1) intended to be in the lower part of the device in turn comprises a bathtub (2) where the bait is housed, said support having a perimeter wall (3).
The bathtub (2) is compartmentalized in a series of cells (5), in this case hexagonal, contiguous with each other in such a way that the partitions that separate from each other configure some walkways (6) suitable for insects to run through they 5 thus having better access to the bait.
The bathtub (2) has a perimeter corridor (8) to facilitate that the insects, even when they all enter through the same place, can be distributed inside the trap and have easy access to the bait.
Another part of the support is the perimeter wall (3) that has a series of recesses (13) and 10 stops (14).
Finally, the support comprises, protruding from its perimeter, two tabs, a closed tab (4) and an opening tab (17), one or the other being overlapped with the cover tab (12) depending on whether the device is closed or open for use.
The cover comprises the upper, closed base, and a skirt (10) where a series of emptyings of the cover (11) coinciding in number and distributed perimetrically in the same manner as the emptyings of the support (13) are observed.
The support has, on the outside of its perimeter wall, a relief (16) that circles it and is suitable for, by pressure, being housed in an existing groove on the inner face of the roof skirt, leaving support and cover joined by pressure 20 but the rotational movement of one with respect to the other being possible, both being coaxial.
During transport and storage, the closing tab (4) and the cover tab (12) are overlapped and the emptyings of the support (13) and the emptyings of the cover (11) are not coincident with the passage being blocked inside the device 25
With a slight movement of rotation of the cover with respect to the base in such a way that the cover flange (12) is overlapped with the opening flange, access to the interior of the device will be free since the interior and exterior of the device will be communicated device to be coincident the emptyings of the cover (11) and the support (13).
In order to avoid that, once in use, an involuntary movement of rotation of the cover or of the support reduces the effectiveness of the device, clipping systems have been arranged that block the rotary movement once the device is in the use position.
